About GETDC

The George E. Thorne Development Center (GETDC) is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt not-for-profit corporation, whose mission is to empower individuals to control their destiny by equipping them with the essential tools needed in the areas of education, healthcare, finance and related issues.  The target population that GETDC serves is largely comprised of low-income and underserved African-Americans.

Anita T. Conner, CPA created GETDC in 2000 and named it in memory of her father.  George E. Thorne was a native of Philadelphia who started his own engineering firm at a time when business opportunities were frequently denied to African-Americans. As a Certified Public Accountant with her own successful small business, Anita created GETDC to share with young people the lessons of hard work, perseverance, self-confidence, and financial management which were her father’s legacy to her.
