Youth Criminal Justice Workshops
This workshop is dedicated to helping teenagers make positive life choices. Led by attorneys, judges, and law enforcement officers, the workshop actually has two purposes. First, as a deterrent to crime, students will learn about the consequences of criminal conduct from those who arrest and prosecute young criminals. Secondly, this workshop will teach young people about constructive career choices in law or law enforcement. This is a great opportunity for teenagers to see police, judges, and lawyers as positive role models.
Roadmap of the Criminal Justice System
This workshop features representatives from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Experienced criminal defense attorneys dissect the criminal justice system. Frequently asked questions such as; when do police have the right to make an arrest; what are a defendant’s rights after being arrested; when is a defendant entitled to see a lawyer; and how is bail set are discussed at the seminar.
Representatives from the correctional system discuss in detail what happens after incarceration…..”life behind bars”. Probation and parole officers also discuss how inmates are monitored after being released from jail. Information is provided to ex-offenders relating to getting their criminal records expunged, finding employment and various other social services necessary to successfully integrate back into society.
